BMS Functions

The Border Management Secretariat (BMS) plays a pivotal role in assisting the BCOCC in ensuring the effective management of Kenya's Ports of Entry and Exit (PoEs).

Its core functions include:

  • Implementing BCOCC policies and programs at Ports of Entry/Exit (PoEs).
  • Acting as the link between BCOCC and the Border Management Committees (BMCs), facilitating communication and coordination.
  • Coordinating the national sharing of information among BMCs, ensuring alignment and efficient information flow.
  • Leading capacity-building initiatives across all BMCs to enhance their operational capabilities.
  • Serving as a liaison office with development agencies on matters related to PoEs, fostering collaboration to improve border management.
